The Full Moon Surprise
Scattered across the table, haphazard, I was blind
My friends and family put the pieces together
The helping hands brought me back to center.
My truth dwells deep within me,
Swirling winds of anger and sadness,
Still, with compassion at the core of it all,
My authenticity knows no boundary, no limits, no wall.
I can look you in the eye, and be honest
As you quiver and look away and hide behind a smile.
You can't lie to me so you lie to yourself,
This is how it will be for a while.
My hope each time I see you,
Is that this time you will be free
So that you and I can stand eye to eye
And say what's real, not the lie.
Your story changes, your role does not
The victim, the martyr, the misfortune begot
It rules you and so the patterns repeat,
As I now realize with every time we meet.
I wished you well, truly, and released
All the pain, for both of us, I carried
So alone now, you don't know how to be
You only reflected me when we were married.
A chance encounter, the full moon surprise
Always trust the stars to align at the right time.
They shine light on what's really there,
The shadows that haunt you will never be mine.
